Bruce in O's Guide to Life: The Best of O, The Oprah Magazine - Posted 9/29/07 Oprah Winfrey (yes, THAT Oprah!) is coming out with a book of the very best of O magazine on October 3rd, and guess who is in that book? That's right, our very own W. Bruce Cameron! The book is a big gorgeous coffee table book called "O's Guide to Life: The Best of O, The Oprah Magazine." Bruce's piece "How to Get Through to a Man" is the only piece by a humorist that Oprah chose to include. Though there are over one hundred essays in the book, she only mentions ten in her personal introduction, and Bruce's piece is one of the ten! Bruce in the News - NPR's Car Talk Read Bruce's Exercise Diary - Posted 08/22/07 A fan wrote into Car Talk and suggested reading Bruce's Exercise Diary column. Thanks, Patti McGuire for writing in to Car Talk. Thanks Tom and Ray from Car Talk for reading the column.
The entire family will roll over with laughter when 8 Simple Rules: The Complete First Season came to DVD on August 7th, from Buena Vista Home Entertainment. Based on W. Bruce Cameron's book 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter and broadcast on ABC-TV from 2002 to 2005. This clip is taken nearly word for word from my book, 8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter, and shows what a fantastic job the writers did in editing the book for the series! 8 Simple Rules: Season One - Clip: Pick me up from the movies An Award Winning Summer! - Posted 08/4/06 There's probably nothing more gratifying than being given an award by one's peers, unless it is being given an award by very rich people looking to hand out a lot of their money. The National Society of Newspaper Columnists is made up of professionals from all over the country who get together a couple times a year and exchange margarita recipes. Their election of me as the Best Humor Columnist in Newspapers With a Circulation Over 100,000 is one of the most thrilling events of my life. Check out www.columnists.com for more information. It's the second time I've been so honored in my career-the last was in 2003. The Robert Benchley Society ( www.robertbenchley.org ) is dedicated to the type of warm and hilarious writing practiced by the man that many of us consider to be one of the great masters of humor. I'm honored to be the 2006 winner of the Robert Benchley Award. And yes, that was me on the Today Show July 28th. They used trick photography to make it look like I'm losing my hair. Bruce wins Newspaper Award - Posted 07/17/06 I just won the National Society of Newspaper Columnists award for best humor columnists in newspapers with a circulation greater than 100,000. Bruce wins 2006 Robert Benchley Award - Posted 06/14/06 You'll no doubt be pleased to hear that I have just won the 2006 Robert Benchley Award, which was judged this year by Dave Barry! My essay, "Golf For The First Time," was called "A wonderful read from beginning to end" by Dave Barry. In my acceptance speech, I thanked Dave Barry, the Robert Benchley Society, God (or, if you prefer, a non-denominational "higher power" or some important document like the U.S. Constitution or my automobile lease), the soundtrack from the movie Serpico, narcotics, sun block, and electricity. Bruce at the Movies - Posted 04/25/06 Watch for me in the Erma Bombeck documentary (not in the title role, though). I was interviewed to find out why I don't write as well as she does. The movie doesn't yet have a distribution channel--it might be available on DVD, or on PBS, or perhaps just via rumor. But there's more movie career news: I am in both the book and the movie "Fired," by Annabelle Gurwitch. The movie is not yet slated for release, but you can buy the book NOW. Check your local book store.
